Some students enjoy homestay so much they stay there for up to several years and the homestay family becomes their New Zealand home!
Price includes:
  • Three meals a day (including a light lunch - students often prepare their own)
  • Your own room with study desk, chair, wardrobe, drawers, and a heater
  • Use of the phone for local calls
  • Power
Students must pay for international phone calls and Internet use. Other typical living expenses a student will have to pay for are transport (buses or taxis) meals out, and entertainment.
Assessment and Quality Assurance All Campbell Institute Homestay Families have been assessed by The Campbell Institute for suitability, and each family has a contractual obligation to The Campbell Institute to meet minimum standards, for example a warm and comfortable bedroom, and a friendly and comfortable environment. According to the New Zealand Ministry of Education Code of Practice homestay families for students who are aged under 18 years old must be vetted by the New Zealand Police as being suitable homestay providers.
