FRIENDLY HOMESTAY WITH PETS

The Pet Demi-Pair!

Hi.

My name is Eriko. I come from Japan. I've been in Wellington about four months.I came to New Zealand on a working holiday visa.

ErikoEriko and Her Classmates

During the first two months I studied at The Campbell Institute. I chose this school, because of the special price for students on working holiday visa and the free workshop. Workshop means after school, students can book a time with a teacher one to one for fifteen minutes and ask any question. In the workshop I asked teachers questions which I didn't understand in the class relating to grammar and pronunciation practice, which I found very useful.

I went to school for a short period, but I met great teachers, staff and friends. I have a good relationship with my classmates. We went to bar’s, bowling and parties. We spent a lot of fun time together. I made friends with various people from other countries, which gave me opportunities to learn about different cultures and religion.

In April I travelled around the South Island. I really enjoyed the scenic beauty of the South Island, especially at Te Waikoropupu Springs in Golden Bay, the water of the lake was amazing. Next time I would like to travel around the North Island too.

Currently I am living with a great kiwi woman as a exchange for rent free. For free board, I do some house work, clean and look after her pets. She has three dogs and three cats, which I really love. The oldest dog can't walk for long time, I usually take the dogs for a walk around the botanic garden and the water front, which takes about forty five minutes a day. One of the dogs is a puppy, so he sometimes escapes and is very mischievous, but he is very cute. Everybody is friendly, so I enjoy it.

Everything is a good experience for me. Working holiday visa has a limit for one year, so I would like to try a lot of things and enjoy New Zealand life.
