| TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This teacher training course provides you with practical teaching experiences, develops your knowledge of teaching methodology and improves your own English language skills. The TESOL course is a 5-week module that can be studied as part of a General English programme. No previous teaching experience is required. You also have the option of sitting the internationally recognised University of Cambridge TKT exam. |
| WHO IS IT FOR? |
| The TESOL Course is for non-native speakers of English who are either already teaching English in their own countries or would like to in the future. |
| HOW GOOD DOES MY ENGLISH HAVE TO BE? |
| English level - Upper Intermediate level and above. This is equivalent to IELTS 5.5, FCE or TOEFL 500. Applicants need to completed a pre-course task to check their suitability for the course. If an applicant's level of English is below upper intermediate, he or she may need to take a general English course first to help improve their English level. |

| WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THE TESOL COURSE? |
| Teaching Methodology |
| You learn about the most effective ways of teaching language. The course covers the principles of teaching and learning and provides participants with practical classroom ideas. |
| Language Development |
| You develop your own English language skills. This informs your teaching and gives you greater confidence in the classroom. |
| Observations |
| You have the opportunity to observe experienced teachers in the school as well as video observations. You also observe each other during teaching practice sessions and are involved in giving feedback about the lessons. |
| Assessment |
| During the course, you are evaluated on your language use, teaching skills and knowledge of language and methodology. The tutors give help and feedback for these tasks. |
| The Cambridge TKT Test |
| After the course, you have the opportunity to sit the TKT exam - The Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test. Our TESOL course prepares you for this exam. You do not have to do this exam, but it provides you with an internationally recognised certificate and it is a good way to consolidate your learning. |
| HOW LONG IS THE TESOL COURSE? |
| The TESOL Course is 5 weeks full-time. You will complete full-time study (25 hours per week - including tutor supervised study and lesson preparation time). |
